2008

From December 2 to 9 Eduard Tadevosyan participates as a juror at the 18 th International Chamber Music Competition held in Thessaloniki, Greece.

On November 25 the Artistic Director of the Komitas State Quartet, Eduard Tadevosyan, appears with a concert in Istanbul, MIAM Hall, within the project "Music Bridge across Turkey-Armenia border” supported by the Eurasia Partnership Foundation with funding from USAID. On December 9 the Komitas Quartet hosts the well-known violinist from Istanbul Maestro Cihat Askin with a concert in Yerevan within this project in the Komitas Chamber Music Hall.

From November 6 to 9 the Komitas Quartet is in Thessaloniki, Greece with a concert on November 8 at the Megaron together with a famous German piano player Uwe Matschke.

On September 30 the Komitas Quartet appeared with concert in Gyumri.

On June 21 the Komitas Quartet appeared with a concert in Tsakhkadzor.

On June 13 the Komitas State Quartet appears with a concert in Istanbul, MIAM Hall, within the project" Music Bridge across Turkey-Armenia border” supported by the Eurasia Partnership Foundation with funding from USAID. From May 30 to June 6 the Artistic Director of the Komitas Quartet Eduard Tadevosyan heads the international jury of Aram Khachaturian International Competition (violin).

On May 14 with the concert in Nor Hajn the 1st National Cello Festival organized by the Komitas Quartet (Artistic Director Aram Talalyan, Manager - Arman Padaryan) finished its successful run, which was one and half month long having started on March 26.

On April 30 the Komitas State Quartet appeared at the Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University with a concert dedicated to inauguration of the rector.

On April 15 the Komitas State Quartet appeared with concert within the 1st National Cello Festival. Soloist was one of the most talented young Armenian cellists - Narek Akhnazarian.

On March 31 the Komitas Quartet appears with the concert at the Komitas Chamber Music Hall within the program of the Armenian Children Philharmonia.

On March 26 the First National Cello Festival dedicated to Geronti Talalyan supported by the Ministry of Culture of Armenian started with a concert in Yerevan. The Artistic Director of the festival is Aram Talalyan.

On March 25 the Komitas Quartet appears at the commemoration concert of the late Armenian Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan.

On January 23 according to the official audition to the vacant place of the 2nd violin, held under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture of Armenia at the Komitas Chamber Music Hall, laureate of international competitions, a talented violinist Syuzi Yeritsyan was invited to the quartet.

2007

click to enlargeOn December 12 the quartet appears with the concert dedicated to 110th Anniversary of Sarkis Aslamazyan – one of the brightest cellists and the creator of wonderful arrangements of Armenian Folk Miniatures.

From October 11 to 18 the quartet appeared with two concerts in Wurzburg and Cologne, Germany.

At the beginning of September the long anticipated studio album of the Komitas State Quartet comprising of the music by contemporary Armenian composers Arno Babadjanyan, Edward Hayrapetyan, Vache Sharafyan with a nice bonus made of less performed Armenian Folk Miniatures was released through VEM Recordings and due to support by Andrew and Eleanor Bagdasarian family from Boston, USA. more…

At the end of August the quartet appeared with concert and master-class in Djadjur through the supporting scheme of the Ministry of Culture of RA.

From July 18 to 24 the quartet made four appearances in France - at the 32nd Festival International de Quators a Cordes du Luberon and in Paris. This happened due to efforts of Hilda Woolf Arts Management and coordinating assistance the Embassy of Armenia in France.

On April 11 a chamber music concert with participation of Levon Chilingirian (UK), Samvel Barseghyan (Belgium), Aram Talalyan and a group of young and talented Armenian musicians takes place at the Komitas Chamber Music Hall.

On April 5, the quartet gave master-classes in Ijevan, Armenia through the scheme of the project supported by Andrew and Eleanor Bagdasarian family from Boston, USA.

On April 4, the quartet appeared with a concert at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire. This event organized due to the efforts of the Georgian side and the Armenian Embassy was partly supported by Andrew and Eleanor Bagdasarian family from Boston, USA.

From March 15 to 21 Eduard Tadevosyan appeared in Kazakhstan with concerts in Almaty and Karaganda dedicated to the 60th Anniversary of Dusen Kaseinov.

In February and March the quartet was preparing and recording its new studio album of Armenian composers - Arno Babadjanyan, Edward Hayrapetyan, Vache Sharafyan and unknown works by Komitas. This production is supported by a grant given by Andrew and Eleanor Bagdasarian family from Boston and will be released at the VEM label at the beginning of June 2007.

A long anticipated recording has been recently issued in the U.S.A. through the efforts of the Papian family. "Aram Khachatryan - 16 pieces" album, based on the excerpts from the ballets of a great Armenian composer, is a unique project undertaken together by Mr. Papian, who made arrangements for a string quartet, and the Komitas State Quartet itself. more

2006

On December 9 and 13, again within the Bagdasarian family supporting scheme, the Komitas Quartet gave master-classes in Dilijan, Hrazdan and Abovyan.

On December 10, due to the invitation from the Armenian Ombudsman, the Komitas State Quartet celebrated the Human Rights Protection day.

In November the Quartet successfully continued its regional concerts and master-classes panel supported by Andrew & Eleanore Bagdasarian in cooperation with the Panarmenian League of Cultural Workers having appeared in Kapan from November 8 to 10.

From October 8 to 11, the Quartet appears with concerts and master-classes in Karabagh. This tour is organized by Panarmenian League of Cultural Workers and supported by Armenian benefactors from the United States, Andrew & Eleanore Bagdasarian.

On September 29 the Quartet performed in Sofia, Bulgaria with a concert dedicated to the 15th Anniversary of Independence of Armenia. The concert happened due to support of the Ambassador of RA in Bulgaria, Mr. Sergey Manassaryan and Producer Hovhannes Melik-Pashaev.

On September 25 the Quartet appeared with the concert at Dimitria International Festival in Thessaloniki, Greece.

On September 19 there was a concert at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia.

On September 16 the quartet appeared at the concert dedicated to the jubilee of a prominent Armenian poet, Paruyr Sevak, held at the Armenian National Theatre of Opera and Ballet.

On September 14 the quartet appeared at the concert in Khnko Apor Library in Yerevan.

In July and August the quartet spent in the studio recording arrangements of excerpts from Aram Khachaturian's ballet music done by the former member of the Komitas Quartet, Yasha Papian.

On June 15 the quartet appeared with concert in Vanadzor performing there quartets by Schubert, Mirzoyan and Komitas/Aslamazyan Armenian Folk Miniatures.

From May 30 to June 6, Aram Khachaturian International Competition took place in Yerevan. The first prize was awarded to the talented cellist, Narek Haknazaryan, who is the son of Souren Akhnazarian, violinist of the Komitas Quartet.

On April 29 in Dilijan Komitas Quartet appeared with a third spring concert dedicated to the jubilee of Ghazaros Saryan, performing the string quartet. Eduard Tadevosyan performed "Andante-Presto himself.

From April 13 to 17 the quartet toured Russia within the Year of Armenia in Russia. Three concerts took place in Moscow, Dubna and St. Petersburg.

On April 8, a jubilee evening dedicated to the 80th Anniversary of the Komitas Quartet will be held at the Aram Khachatryan Concert Hall. Enterance by invitations.

On April 7 there will be a concert of the Komitas Quartet at the Komitas Chamber Music Hall. In Program Mozart, Mirzoyan, Komitas/Aslamazyan. The Concert is dedicated to Mozart's 250th anniversary. In concert participates People's Artist of Russia, professor Rafael Baghdasaryan - clarinet.

On January 26, 2006 the first concert dedicated to W-A. Mozart's 250 anniversary was held at the Komitas Chamber Music Hall. Artistic Director of the concert Aram Talalyan appeared there as a cellist and conductor.

2005

On November 26 Eduard Tadevosyan appeared with the National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia under the baton of Maestro Aram Gharabekyan and performed "Andante & Presto" by Ghazaros Saryan.

On November 24 the quartet appeared at the 125-th jubilee evening of a famous Armenian poet Vaan Teryan.

From November 4 to November 11 the quartet was in Greece with a concert on November 8 at the Megaron, appearing with a famous pianist Dimitris Sgouros and a talented violinist Christos Galileas. In progam Saint Saens, Mirzoyan and Chausson.

In September - October 2005 the quartet appeared with a range of concerts in Armenia, among them solo recitals and en masse. It is necessary to mention the concert at the American University of Armenia, concert dedicated to the Days of Russia in Armenia and recital of Edward Tadevosyan at the Arno Babadjanyan Concert Hall on October 6. From September 12 to September 25, Aram Talalyan organized "Festival of Romantic Music."

From July 18 to August 10, Aram Talalyan appeared with concerts at "Music Festival des Pays de la Loire", France.

From June 21 to July 8, the Komitas State Quartet and namely Aram Talalyan and Arman Padaryan organized "First Yerevan Baroque Music Festival". Within the festival framework about 70 young and experienced musicians performed baroque music in three concert halls of Yerevan: Komitas Chamber Music Hall, Spendiaryan Music College Hall and Naregatsi Art Institute. In total there were 9 concerts set. Festival boasted many premieres.

All April the quartet was giving concerts dedicated to the 90th Commemoration date of Armenian Genocide. On April 9 the quartet appeared at the National Gallery Festival. On April 11 the quartet appeared at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet. From April 15 to April 18 the quartet was in Vienna, Austria with a concert organized with a help from Armenisch Apostolische Kirchengeminde. The quartet continued the European tour in Slovakia giving two concerts in Bratislava from April 19 to April 22.

In March 2005 Komitas Quartet has released a new limited edition concert CD - Chaushian, Hovhannisyan, Schumann. It was recorded in Moscow and Yerevan in November 2004 within the framework on 80th Anniversary Season concerts. This long-time anticipated CD boasts superb new works by contemporary Armenian composers - Chaushian and Hovhannisyan, whilst fans of classical music will find their all time favorite Robert Schumann's piano quintet performed with a prominent Armenian pianist - Anahit Nersisyan there too.
Bonus tracks: Harutyunyan, famous Sasun Dance and of course Komitas/Aslamazyan – Armenian Folk Miniatures.

2004

From December 13 to 18 Komitas Quartet has appeared with concerts in Dubai during the days of Armenia in the UAE.

On December 12 Eduard Tadevosyan performed Aram Khachaturyan's Concerto for violin and orchestra at the concert dedicated to the 80th commemoration jubilee of Professor Leonid Kogan, his respected teacher. Concert took place at the Big Hall of Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory.

From November 21 to November 28 the quartet made appearance at the "Moscow Autumn" festival.

On November 18 the quartet gave the third concert within the framework of 80th Anniversary season. At the concert that took place at the Komitas Chamber Music Hall the quartet performed the works of Chaushian - Quartet No4, Hovhannisyan - quartet No 3 and together with a famous pianist Mrs. Anahit Nersisyan - Robert Schumann's piano quintet.

On November 12 the quartet performed Komitas/Aslamazyan Miniatures at the concert dedicated to the jubilee of the State Archive Department.

On November 10 the quartet appeared at the concert dedicated to 175th anniversary of Mikael Nalbandian.

On November 6 the quartet appeared at the concert dedicated to the 130th anniversary of Gevorgian Theological Seminary at the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall.

On October 7 the Komitas Quartet received an invitation to appear with concert at the International Symposium of Mathematicians hosted by Yerevan State University. In program 15 miniatures by Komitas.

From September 21 to October 3 the Komitas Quartet was on tour in Syria through the invitation from the Damascus High School of Music and coordinating efforts of Mr. Missak Barkhudarian.

During the summer of 2004 the quartet members pursued solo activities and participated in various projects. Among them should be mentioned recitals of Eduard Tadevosyan in the French and US embassies and a tour to the Central America of Trio Arsika, the member of which was Aram Talalyan.

On July 12 the quartet played the concert dedicated to the 105th Anniversary of Avet Ter-Gabrielyan, one of the founders of the quartet back in 1924. The concert took place in Yerevan Komitas Chamber Music Hall.

From May 20 to May 30 the Third Strings Competition after Avet Ter-Gabrielyan and Sergey Aslamazyan took place at the Yerevan State Komitas Conservatory. The respected jurors were members of the Komitas State Quartet and respected representatives of the Conservatory. Eduard Tadevosyan was a chairman of the competition.

On May 15, Baroque Ensemble led by the cellist of the Komitas Quartet, Aram Talalyan, made a concert at the Aram Khachaturyan Museum. The concert was a great success. They played Vivaldi and Telemann.

On March 11, the quartet made the opening of the 80th season in Armenia with an Anniversary concert at the Komitas Chamber Music Hall. They performed Shostakovich, Borodin and Hayrapetyan.

From January 26 to February 1 the quartet visited Syrian Arab Republic with two concerts in Damascus and Aleppo.

The first appearance within the framework of the World Tour dedicated to the 80th Anniversary of the Komitas Quartet was made in France. On January 22 Komitas Quartet performed at the International Festival of Quartets at the "Conservatoire National de Region Musique et de Danse de la Ville de Reims" in France. The musicians of the quartet also participated in the master classes for students and kids.

2003

On December 28 the Komitas Quartet made appearance at the opening of the Mher Mkrtchyan Theatre. This was the last concert of the quartet in 2003.

On December 25 the Komitas Quartet participated in the concert dedicated to the 80th Anniversary of the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory.

On December 22 the Komitas Quartet managed to appear at two events. 100 years of Armenian Energetic complex was celebrated at the Opera House and the quartet played in the first part. The grand opening of the Komitas Chamber Music Hall after the refurbishment was celebrated with wonderful emergence of the Komitas Quartet that closed the evening with famous Armenian Folk miniatures.

On December 13 Eduard Tadevosyan played Aram Khachaturian's violin concerto at the State organized concert dedicated to 100th Anniversary of a great Armenian composer and held at the Armenian National Opera House.

In November - December 2003 the quartet performed four nights at the Third International Festival of Traditional and Sacred Music for Humanity in Yerevan organized in cooperation with the National Commission of UNESCO. It included three performances of new music:

Simon Sarkisyan - quartet
Aram Khachaturian/Ruben Altunyan - Nune variations from Gayane Ballet
The quartet members appeared at the festival also as soloists performing new music. Eduard Tadevosyan made a premiere of the work by Suren Zakaryan - Elegy - for the violin and orchestra. Aleksandr Kosemyan presented the work by Alexander Harutunyunyan - Sonata for viola. Aram Talalyan appeared within the performance of the work by Vache Sharafyan - Ascending kamancha for duduk, cello and piano.

From October 31 till November 7 the Komitas Quartet was in Athens, Greece. The concert took place at the American College of Greece and was a great success.

From 7 to 14 October the quartet appeared in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with a concert, through the initiative of the Armenian Community of Ethiopia and with assistance of HE Ashot Mangasaryan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in the region.

On October 3 the Komitas Quartet participated in the State concert dedicated to the 1000th Jubilee of a Great Armenian poet Grikor Narekatsi.

On October 1 Komitas Quartet concerted in Tsakhdadzor at the International Forum of Mathematicians.

On September 26 the quartet participated in the concert dedicated to the Birthday of a prominent Armenian poet Siamanto.

On September 4 the quartet made appearance at the 80th jubilee of Faddey Sarkisyan, the President of the Armenian Academy of Science.

On 1 August with a great success Eduard Tadevosyan made appearance in Montevideo, Uruguay. At the concert organized in coopeation with Hamazkayin and Orquestra Filarmonica de Montevideo and supported by Eduardo Seferian was present the First Lady of Uruguay, Mercedes Menafra de Batlle. She was deeply impressed with performance of Khachaturian's violin concerto and personally expressed her delight to the Armenian master violinist.

On June 20, at Gladzor University in Yerevan the Komitas Quartet played a concert dedicated to World Refugee Day. The event was organized in cooperation with UNHCR.The quartet performed works of Schubert, Haydn and Komitas.

From May 31 to June 14 the quartet appeared in Ecuador and made two concerts through the invitation of Sociedad Filarmonica de Quito that served as the organizer. Eduard Tadevossian performed a violin concert by Khachaturian with the National Symphonic Orchestra of Quito.

As it was planned two concerts in California occurred on May 11 and 18. Through the kind invitation from "Hamazkayin" Armenian Educational and Cultural Society the Komitas Quartet appeared in Los Angeles, Occidental College, Thorne Hall and San Francisco, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Forum Hall. Concerts were sold out and had a huge success.

26 January - 3 February the Komitas Quartet spent on tour in Lebanon appearing with three concerts at the Demergian Centre, Theatre du Liban and Mesrobian College.

On January 12 the Komitas Quartet played at the Union of Composers Concert Hall, Yerevan, presenting music from Gagik Havunts and Simon Sarkisyan - two superb quartets.

On January 7 it performed at the benevolent evening organized by the Armenian Bone Marrow Project, which operates under patronage of Bella Kocharian, the First Lady of Armenia. The quartet made the opening and played there Komitas-Aslamazian programme: Tonakan, Al Aylukhs and Vagharshapat Dance.
